FORECAST DISCUSSION
Normal high: 76°F. Normal low: 56°F.
It has been a while since we've seen the sun, all thanks to the remnants of Tropical Storm "Ophelia" whic continues to loiter just off the coast.
The remnant low, combined with high pressure to the north, will make for breezy winds from the northeast at will gust at times to 25 mph or more. It will also keep a persistent flow of cool, humid air over Delmarva. As a result, skies will remain mostly to completely cloudy for the next several days with temperatures well below normal.
With the cloudy and cool, breezy conditions, will come areas of light rain or drizzle that will persist through at least Friday, with the best chances for rain (albeit mainly light rain) being on Thursday and Friday.
The forecast for the weekend looks a little uncertain with not too many changes to the pattern.
Northeasterly winds are expected to continue, keeping clouds and light rain or drizzle in the forecast, although recent guidance is suggesting the weekend to be a little drier than previously thought.
Warmer temperatures return next week.
In the tropics...
Tropical Storm "Philippe" is expected to maintain a westward course, heading toward the northern Leeward Islands. Development conditions are not favorable in the area, though, and the storm is expected to struggle to maintain strength.
A tropical wave in the central Atlantic has a high, 90 percent chance of development and could become the next tropical depression in the next 48 hours. If it becomes a named storm, its name would be "Rina."
The long-term 8-14 day outlook has temperatures averaging above normal and precipitation nearnormal for October 4 - October 10.
