FORECAST DISCUSSION
Normal high: 60°F. Normal low: 39°F.
A cold front Monday evening will bring a threat for severe weather to Delmarva.
Starting around 7-8 p.m., showers and thunderstorms will approach Delmarva. With plenty of warm air and gusty winds, these storms have the potential to produce all modes of severe weather, including downpours, damaging winds, hail, and some tornadoes. Damaging winds will be the main threat, however, with any storms.
The storms will come to an end by early morning Tuesday, with some lingering showers possible through the Tuesday morning commute. Then, as the front pulls away, high pressure will build into the region, and skies should become mostly sunny by Tuesday afternoon. Due to the proximity of the departing storm system and the building high, expect windy conditions on Tuesday, with north-northwest winds gusting to 25 mph or more at times.
Temperatures return to more seasonable levels starting Tuesday into Wednesday.
We're expecting another warm up into the 70s by Thursday, and temperatures will stay unseasonably warm through the weekend.
A series of storm systems will approach starting on Thursday through the weekend, however rain chances are getting lower as it looks like a Bermuda high will develop and deflect most stormy weather to our north. However, we're going to keep scattered showers in the forecast for Friday through at least Sunday.
Longer-range guidance is suggesting a more potent storm system could develop for next Monday, but that's a week away, so watch this space for forecast updates throughout the week ahead.
In the long range, temperatures are expected to average below normal, and precipitation below normal for April 7 - April 13.
