CAMBRIDGE,Md.- The big rigs and plows were not out clearing the streets Friday in Cambridge. Despite the morning snowfall, the roads were already clear. That's a relief, because the public works salt shed which was full in January took a heavy hit from the blizzard of 2016.
"We didn't have to bring the crews in, we didn't have to spread any salt. It looks pretty in the trees and around the streets, but there's nothing on the streets," said Cambridge Public Works Director Odie Wheeler.
While it slowed down some commutes and led to school closings, the snow also led to openings for photographers with a keen eye like Sue Wyatt.
I saw the beautiful Hambrooks Boulevard scene and stopped to take that picture. This is probably going to be the last hurrah, so I'm going to enjoy it.
One of those photographers is nine year old Conner Bryan. His school, St. Peter and Paul in Easton, had a two-hour delay, so he went out with his grandma to take some pictures.
"Well, the bushes look like they have little puffs on them. The big trees, like the evergreens, they are so beautiful with the snow on them and their leaves, it just makes a great big winter scene," said Bryan.
As a hopeful last hurrah to this winter, people say it is a good note to go out on. So put the shovels away, bring out the cameras, and snap some pictures before it all melts away.
