LEWES, Del. - The former home of notorious Sussex County child molester Earl Bradley is set to get a new owner soon. WBOC confirmed Monday that the home, located at 344 Savannah Road in Lewes, is set to be sold this summer.
Realtor Kathy Engel told WBOC that there were "multiple bids," and that in the end it was tentatively sold for well-above the asking price of $250,000. Engel said that the sale is "going to settlement" on Aug. 4, but that the sale is looking pretty secure.
"It's pretty much a done deal," she said. "So we put up the 'sold' sign."
In the past, selling the home was difficult, partially due to the stigma attached to the home. As a Lewes pediatrician, Bradley was responsible for molesting more than 100 of his child patients, and was sentenced to 14 life sentences in 2011.
"Time heals all wounds," Engel said. "And more time has passed."
In April, the Bethel United Methodist Church attempted to have the property demolished, saying that selling the property was too difficult. This request was denied by the Lewes Historical Society.
