DOVER, Del.-Organizers of Delaware's Pride Festival moved the event to Dover for the first time Saturday.
Organizers said it is their way of thanking lawmakers for enacting marriage equality among the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
The festival drew a crowd of about 1,000 people to the lawn in front of the historic Legislative Hall. The event included drag shows, vendor booths and other entertainment.
This was the 17th year for Delaware Pride. The festival has long been held in Rehoboth Beach or New Castle County.
Organizers said the location change was also meant to create a more central location so everyone in the state can attend. The festival will return to Dover next year.
