SALISBURY, Md.- Emergency crews on Friday afternoon pulled a woman from a car submerged in a retention pond off of Woodbrooke Drive in Salisbury.
The incident happened just before 3 p.m. Salisbury Fire Department officials said an elderly woman who was a driving the car called 9-1-1 to report that her car had plunged into the pond.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they said they found the car submerged in approximately 5 feet of water. The woman had crawled into the backseat where firefighters were able to pull her out. She was then put into a fire department raft and brought to shore.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
