Firefly Music Festival Opens in Dover

DOVER, Del.- The Dover Police Department is investigating after a 20-year-old woman was found dead at the Firefly Music Festival campground.

Police say that at around 6:30 a.m. officers were alerted to an unresponsive woman at Firefly Camping Lot 18. Police say the woman was found unconscious at her campsite and was treated by medical staff before she was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital. There, authorities say she was pronounced dead at 6:55 a.m.

Police identified the woman as 20-year-old Caroline Friedman, of Philadelphia. Police say Friedman was attending the Firefly Music Festival. While the cause of her death is unknown, police say it is not considered suspicious. The department says Friedman's cause of death will be determined after an autopsy and toxicology report.

Firefly organizers issued the following statement Sunday night: "We express our deepest condolences and sympathy to the family and friends of Ms. Friedman. We are fully cooperating with the Dover Police Department’s investigation of this morning's event."
