YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly honors for men's lacrosse on Monday, awarding Salisbury University senior Austin Kemp with Defensive Player of the Week.
Kemp helped lead the Sea Gulls to their two victories last week against Christopher Newport University, 16-3, and conference rival then-No. 17 Frostburg State University, 8-7, in overtime.
The Sea Gulls played great defense and caused a turnover on the Bobcats late in regulation, which led to sophomore Brendan Bromwell gaining control of the ball to score and tie the game at 7-7 and send it to overtime.
Kemp tied for the team lead with four caused turnovers this week while adding five ground balls. The defense, including Kemp, limited its two opponents to an accumulation of 10 goals this week.
The team returns to Sea Gull Stadium on Wednesday, April 15 at 7 p.m., for a battle against CAC rival York College of Pennsylvania.
