While many businesses are itching to reopen, people are also eager to get back to their every day schedules.
The owners of Sea Barre Fitness know how important it is to stay healthy while social distancing, but also maintain a healthy lifestyle.
"What people say they are craving the most is getting back to their workout routine. Get back into the gyms. People feel like they are overeating at home. But also they miss this," said co-owner Ellen Spell.
In compliance with social distancing guidelines and health regulations, the center offers a barre class and a spin class in limited capacity outdoors. Classes are in an open space at the Covered Bridge Inn. Each session is capped at nine people, plus one instructor.
All of the bikes and mats are 6-feet apart and cleaned before and after the workout. The owners ask that you wear a face covering when you come in and only take it off when exercising.
"We are obviously following all state and local guidelines. Each member that signed up got an email 48-hours ahead of time with our safety and protocol procedures including where to park, bringing their own equipment, how we are sanitizing things," said co-owner Sara Rowley.
The class is free. But people with Sea Barre also want to use it as a way to give back. You're encouraged to bring a donation for the Sussex County Y Food Bank.
"We aren't making any money off of this. This is just a way to thank the community and do our small part to help," said Spell.
Even under the circumstances, they say it's a great way to give back, get fit, and give people a sense of normalcy.
"I think a lot of small business owners have had to step outside their comfort zone and outside the box and just think differently. Ellen and I have both said one thing that has come from this is, we have expanded the way we think about fitness, about community, and taking part in something we feel very passionate about," said Rowley.
While the class sizes will be limited, the owners say they will continue to offer these classes until the gym is able to open back up.
