EAST NEW MARKET, Md.- Authorities say a fire that began in the mulch of an outside flower bed spread to a Dorchester County home Sunday night, leaving the home in ruins.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the blaze occurred shortly after 11 p.m. at a one-story home located at 4200 Saturn Drive in East New Market.
It took approximately 30 firefighters from the East New Market Volunteer Fire Department, along with several assisting companies, approximately 45 minutes to get the fire under control.
The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to the structure and another $20,000 in damage to its contents. There were no reported injuries.
Investigators ruled the blaze accidental.
Authorities said that as a result of the fire, the Alan Henry family was displaced and are being assisted by family and friends.
