WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware police say two men who fled after one was caught apparently shooting up heroin crashed into another car, critically injuring a woman and seriously injuring a man.
Delaware State Police say a trooper found a man injecting a hypodermic needle into his arm inside a car at a Wilmington shopping center Thursday night. The trooper ordered the man and his passenger to raise their arms.
The men fled, and the trooper gave chase.
Less than a mile later, the fleeing car T-boned another vehicle, sending the two people inside to the hospital. A 53-year-old Wilmington woman is in critical condition and a 55-year-old New Castle man is in serious condition.
The driver of the car, 32-year-old Stephen Jefferis of Wilmington, wasn't seriously hurt and faces a slew of charges.
