Salisbury Police Make Arrest in Family Dollar Armed Robbery

Michael Ryan Russell

SALISBURY, Md.– Salisbury Police have made an arrest in Monday's armed robbery of the Family Dollar store at 1527 N. Salisbury Blvd.

Officers said they identified the suspect Tuesday as Michael Ryan Russell, 29, of Princess Anne.

According to police, Russell entered the store at around 1:20 p.m. Monday and brought items up to the checkout counter. Police said Russell then displayed a knife and demanded cash from the register. The employee complied and handed over an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled the business in an unknown direction, police said.

Detectives from the Salisbury Police Department used surveillance footage, which they said helped them identify Russell as the suspect. With the help of the Maryland State Police Apprehension Team, they located and arrested him in Ocean City the following day.

Russell was transported to the Wicomico County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $500,000 bond on charges of armed robbery, robbery, theft, assault, possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure and reckless endangerment.
