KENTON, Del. - Delaware State Police say a woman was killed in an early Monday morning car crash in Kenton.
Troopers said it happened around 1:30 a.m. on Sudlersville Road east of the western end of Owls Nest Road.
Police said a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by 21-year-old Kevin T. Perry, of Maryland, was traveling eastbound on Sudlersville Road when he failed to negotiate a left curve. Police said the Tahoe went off the side of the road, struck a DelDOT sign, and went through a grassy ditch, which caused the car to go airborne. Police said the vehicle did not stop until it struck a tree with the front right bumper.
Troopers said Perry, who was wearing a seat belt at the time, was removed from the scene by EMS crews and transported to Kent General Hospital where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Police said the passenger, 21-year-old Dymond Dantzler, also of Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said Dantzler was not wearing a seatbelt.
The DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation into this incident.
Sudlersville Road was closed for about three and a half hours as the crash was investigated and cleared, according to police.
