Deadly shooting

DOVER, DE - The Dover Police Department has arrested a 19-year-old suspect on murder charges after a 15-year-old was killed in an ambush shooting Sunday night. 

According to police, the investigation into the incident began just after 8:30 p.m. on April 14th when police were called to the area of South Governors Avenue and West Reed Street on reports of a shooting. 

Officers say they found a 15-year-old Dover boy who had sustained gun shot wounds. The teen died on scene, according to police, and his identity is being withheld pending notification to his family.

The investigation revealed the teen was walking when a group of suspects ambushed and shot at him multiple times, according to authorities. Police say they were able to identify Breshawn Best, 19, as one of the shooting suspects.

Best was taken to Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,086,000 cash bail and charged with the following:

-Murder First Degree

-Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony

-Possession of Ammunition By a Person Prohibited

-Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon

-Conspiracy First Degree

This is the second fatal shooting in Dover reported over the weekend.
