Greenwood Fire

GREENWOOD, DE - The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal says it is investigating last night's structure fire in Greenwood.

According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire was reported just after 8 p.m. on November 13th at the New Process Fibre Company. The Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department arrived to find the flames coming from an unoccupied maintenance building. Various other fire departments also responded.

As WBOC previously reported, four fire companies’ trucks were reportedly damaged en route to the fire from unknown suspects throwing rocks at them.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, and damage to the building is estimated at $100,000.

Anyone with information on the fire is asked to call the Sussex Division of the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office at 302-856-5600. The Fire Marshal also asks anyone with information on the rocks thrown at the responding fire trucks to call the Greenwood Police Department at 302-349-4822.

WBOC's Kyle Orens will have more on this story tonight.
