DELAWARE - Officials with Delaware Libraries announced the launch of a 10-week program that aims to support Delawareans on digital literacy. That means trained members of AmeriCorps' VISTA program have been placed in 21 libraries across Delaware.

Digital Literacy Specialists from AmeriCorp will assist the public with computer and technology questions, including how to complete online applications, navigate websites, and build basic digital skills. Officials say once patrons become more comfortable with these skills, specialists can introduce them to the many free computer training programs and other learning resources available through Delaware Libraries, which includes in-person classes.

"Libraries are proud to expand their digital literacy specialist supports this summer with a presence in 21 Delaware Libraries," said Dr. Annie Norman, State Librarian of Delaware. "The digital landscape is ever evolving, and the Delaware Libraries stands at the ready to help Delawareans navigate AI, software skills, social media concepts, and more."

Officials say you do not need an appointment to ask questions or meet with a specialist. They're trained to be able to support you on many concepts, including software skills, understanding AI, and even social media.

Kent County Libraries

  • Dover: Monday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Tuesdays & Thursdays: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Friday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Duck Creek: Wednesday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Sussex County Libraries

  • Delmar: Wednesdays 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Georgetown: Monday - Thursday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Frankford: Tuesdays & Thursdays 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Laurel: Mondays 11:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • Millsboro: Fridays 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Seaford: Tuesdays & Fridays 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Thursdays 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Selbyville: Mondays 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Fridays 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
