Food Truck Tuesday

GEORGETOWN, DE – After a five-year absence, the smell of sizzling fryers and fresh meals once again filled the air in Georgetown Tuesday, with the return of Food Truck Tuesdays on the Circle.

The bi-weekly summer event, which has not been held since 2019, is a joint effort by the Town of Georgetown and the Greater Georgetown Chamber of Commerce to bring foot traffic and community engagement to the heart of Sussex County. The event runs every second and fourth Tuesday from now until August, featuring a rotating lineup of food trucks.

Among those serving up meals was Cynthia Brown Gibbs, owner of Cindy’s Meals on Wheels, who said she’s thrilled to be a part of it,

“I’m really glad to be here, because I haven’t done anything in almost a year! So I’m definitely glad to be back out here today,” she said, dishing out plates of food to hungry customers.

In addition to Gibbs’ soul food offerings, a Cousins Mane Lobster truck also joined the kickoff. Future events will include different vendors and cuisines, giving locals and workers a variety of lunchtime options.

“Really excited, and a lot of people in my department are planning to come out here today,” local employee Ann Lepore said.

The event certainly appeared to quickly gain traction across town.

“I’m excited! I’m ready to eat! I’m gonna have Cindy’s food truck, and when the barbeque comes hopefully I’ll have that as well,” said Jayna Fletcher.
