SBY NYE

SALISBURY, MD - As midnight looms, Salisbury is readying for its own ball drop, set to mark the transition to 2024 with the 10th annual New Year's Eve SBY event.

Organizers are anticipating a lively New Year's Eve celebration. The stage is set on North Division Street for multiple musical performances, shiny costume contests, and family-friendly activities including photo booths and an opportunity for attendees to write their new year's resolution in a luminary bag.

Chris Ford, Salisbury’s Events Technical Specialist, emphasized the celebration's aim to bring downtown to life.

"We’re gonna bring 1500 to 2000 people in our downtown area, with MoJo’s, Brick Joe’s, Roadie Joe’s, and Two Scoops – all these businesses that are open hoping to drive some of these patrons that maybe wouldn’t come down on a Sunday night – and really have that economic impact," said Ford.

The event, which started 9 PM, collaborates with local businesses to provide food and drinks for celebrants.

Thomas Ownby from the Mad Hatter Cafe highlighted the importance of creating a space for people to come together, have fun, savor good food, and enjoy each other's company, especially after the challenges of 2023.

"Just giving them a safe place to have fun, have good food, and be with each other – 2023 was a hard year for everyone. So why not everyone get together and have a great night," said Ownby.
