Communities across the peninsula are preparing for a gusty and sopping Sunday as a coastal storm that arrived overnight lingers over Delmarva.

Coastal communities along the Delaware Bay are bracing for a major storm predicted to bring strong winds and flooding. Neighbors and officials say they are taking advantage of “the calm before the storm” to make final preparations.

Officials with Delaware's Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) have outlined a proposal to fix the dunes along Broadkill Beach. 

This year’s prescribed burn includes a total of nearly 200 acres throughout the refuge, including the headquarters area, that will tentatively take place beginning Monday, March 28 through through Friday, April 1, and will be contingent upon optimal burn conditions.
