Volunteers are building concrete reef balls Thursday to help clean the Choptank River. The reef balls will also help stabilize the environment. Darran Tilghman works for Shore River and says they are already seeing results with reef balls that were dropped in the Choptank River earlier.
After the pandemic forced the cancellation of Thunder on the Choptank last year, the event will return to Dorchester County tomorrow. The race is five laps with each lap one mile long. Organizers say they expect nearly 60 teams to race tomorrow. They also hope the nearly 1,500 spectators will bring a boost to the economy.
