Speeding drivers in Seaford could soon face stricter enforcement as the Seaford Police Department considers using mobile speed cameras on some of the city’s busiest roads.

Dover city leaders have finalized a list of priority transportation projects for the coming year, covering a range of initiatives from economic development to roadway safety and capacity. The list includes both projects carried over from previous years and newly proposed initiatives.

The Delaware Department of Transportation has installed new weather monitoring cameras along Route 1 and in Oak Orchard in an effort to better track frequent flooding in the area.

State transportation officials are considering building two pedestrian bridges over Route 1 near Lewes and Rehoboth Beach. The bridges would allow bicyclists and pedestrians to safely cross over busy sections of the highway.

The Delaware Department of Transportation says the speed camera on SR1 near the Minos Conaway Road Grade-Separated work zone near Lewes is now issuing tickets.

For a few hours on Monday, October 13th, sections of Route 1 were closed due to bayside flooding, according to DelDOT officials. The road has since been cleared, but, with the storm in the rearview mirror, some people told WBOC they are hopeful state leaders will find solutions to prevent future issues.

The Delaware Department of Transportation has closed Nassau Road off Route 1 in Lewes until the end of October, weather permitting.

Speeding has long been a concern in the small Kent County town of Little Creek, but town leaders say tackling the problem is becoming even more difficult.
