The Maryland State Board of Education voted Tuesday afternoon to allow local school districts to decide whether K-12 students must wear face coverings, sending the proposal to end an emergency order to a legislative committee to make a final decision.

By a vote of 12-2, the Maryland State Board of Education on Tuesday afternoon voted to rescind its mask mandate in schools effective March 1.
The Maryland Board of Education voted today to rescind it's mask mandate in school, leaving the choice up to individual school districts. Before it can be enacted, the General Assembly Joint Committee of Administrative Executive and Legislative Review holds their own vote on the matter, and no date has been set for that vote.
