Freezing weather has disrupted more than just roads across Delmarva; icy conditions has forced the on and off closure of the Woodland Ferry near Seaford and the Upper Ferry in Salisbury on Monday
The Delaware Department of Transportation announced the closure of the Woodland Ferry. The ferry will remain closed until further notice due to the winter storm.
Police arrested a man after he was found unconscious in his car on the Woodland Ferry.
The Woodland Ferry reopened Monday, September 16th with a limited schedule due to limited staffing.
State officials told WBOC that the ferry currently only has one captain. This leaves the modified schedule as 7am to 4pm Monday through Friday, with an exception of 11am to 12pm.
The Woodland Ferry is set to reopen to traffic on Monday.
DELDOT says the Woodland Ferry will be closed through Sept. 16.
Officials say the ferry will undergo a mandatory inspection.
In August of 2022, the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) revealed plans to demolish and replace the Woodland Ferry Captain House across from the Woodland Ferry dock.
Despite the announcement, the house still stands, and some Woodland locals are actively resisting its removal.
