Virginia State Police are investigating a house fire that claimed the life of a woman in Saxis on Sunday evening.
The Millsboro Fire Company and assisting agencies responded to the 22300 block of York Circle just before 1 a.m. on June 4, according to department run logs.
Delmar Volunteer Fire Department responded and it took 40 firefighters an hour to control the fire.
Officials say the homeowners were out of town at the time of the fire, with a neighbor watching their dog reported safe.
